City of Tampa - Forestry Division
The mission of the Forestry Division is to provide a safe and healthy urban forest, including all associated ecosystems, for the residents of Tampa. To promote proper tree care through public education, regulation of tree professionals. To foster an interest toward the importance of the urban forest among young adults and children.
The City of St. Petersburg - Urban Forestry employs an urban forester who implements the tree protection regulations, as well as tree maintenance crews who trim and remove trees as needed. For its commitment to preserving and enhancing the urban forest, the City of St. Petersburg has been awarded the Tree City USA award for 18 consecutive years, from 1986 to 2003.
UF/IFAS Extension, Hillsborough County is an educational service provided by both the University of Florida and Hillsborough County. It provides information to the public through workshops, publications and mass media.The mission of Extension is to provide information and education to Hillsborough County's 1,027,318 residents. In 2004 Extension accomplished the following: 1,373 educational presentations involving 73,641 participants; 14 different newsletters distributed to specific audiences; 217,099 fact sheets distributed to the public; answered 57,804 telephone requests for information; coordinated 2,231 volunteers spending 5,034 (8 hour) days reaching county residents with educational programs.
The Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District solves local natural resource problems with quality technical services. The Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District receives financial support from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. The District also has a close working relationship with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The Forest Service is also the largest forestry research organization in the world, and provides technical and financial assistance to state and private forestry agencies.
The goal of the Southern Regional Extension Forestry Office is to identify, prescribe, and implement a mix of education and technical services that increase the efficiency of forestry programs in the southern United States.
The mission of the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station is to create the science and technology needed to sustain and enhance southern forest ecosystems and the benefits they provide.
